Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Overnight: Budget lodge in Mto wa Mbu-Fanaka, Fig Tree, Jambo or Ngedere Lodge

A transfer vehicle brings you to the departure point and your guide heads south toward Tarangire, home to one of the largest elephant populations in East Africa and some of the most dramatic baobab scenery on the continent.

The dry season brings every species in the region to the Tarangire River — elephants by the dozen, zebra herds, buffalo, and resident lions and leopards. Tonight you rest at a comfortable budget lodge in Mto wa Mbu village.

 

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Full Safari

Overnight: Budget lodge in Mto wa Mbu – Fanaka, Fig Tree, Jambo or Ngedere Lodge

You reach the crater rim at first light and descend into one of Africa’s most extraordinary ecosystems. The 260-square-kilometre crater floor shelters lions, elephants, hippos, wildebeest, and critically endangered black rhinos in a landscape that feels entirely self-contained.

Your guide takes you on a full circuit of the floor before returning to Mto wa Mbu for the night.

 

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park, Return to Arusha or JRO

Overnight: End of safari – transfer vehicle to Arusha or JRO

Lake Manyara delivers something genuinely unlike the other parks,groundwater forest giving way to an alkaline lake shore, tree-climbing lions resting in fever trees, and flamingos turning the shallows an unreal pink.

By midday a transfer vehicle returns you to your Arusha accommodation or takes you directly to JRO.
