Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Overnight: Mto wa Mbu- Fanaka, Fig Tree, Jambo or Ngedere Lodge

A transfer vehicle brings you to the departure point. From there your guide heads south through Maasai land into Tarangire — a park defined by its ancient baobab trees and the highest elephant density in Tanzania.

The dry season brings every species to the Tarangire River: elephants in their dozens, zebra, buffalo, ostriches, and over 500 bird species. Tonight you rest comfortably in Mto wa Mbu.

 

Day 2: Serengeti National Park, Arrival and Afternoon Game Drive

Overnight: Nyani Campsite, Serengeti – tent, mattress, bedding, and camp chef provided

You cross through the Ngorongoro highlands and into the Serengeti, the endless plain where the afternoon game drive begins immediately. Your guide works every ridge line and waterhole for lion prides, cheetahs, and elephant herds.

At Nyani Campsite your tent is pitched and the camp chef has dinner underway. The Serengeti sky at night, with no light pollution for hundreds of kilometres, is a safari experience in itself.

 

Day 3: Full Serengeti Game Drive, Transfer to Ngorongoro

Overnight: Simba Campsite, Ngorongoro Rim_tent, mattress, bedding, and camp chef provided

A full morning in the Serengeti with nothing to do but follow the wildlife. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, and during migration season the overwhelming spectacle of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra moving together across the plain.

By afternoon you climb east to the Ngorongoro rim and settle into Simba Campsite, the crater spread out in the darkness below you.

 

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Safari, Return to Arusha or JRO

Overnight: End of safari – transfer vehicle to Arusha or JRO

An early descent into the crater as the mist rises from the floor. The 20-kilometre-wide caldera is home to lions, black rhinos, hippos, flamingos, elephants, and wildebeest in extraordinary concentration.

A full circuit of the crater floor with your guide, then a transfer vehicle returns you to Arusha or takes you directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

 

ABOUT THE CAMPSITES

Nyani Campsite in the Serengeti and Simba Campsite on the Ngorongoro rim are public campsites managed by Tanzania National Parks. Your tent, mattress, bedding, and a dedicated camp chef are all provided.

You do not need to bring camping equipment or have any prior camping experience. These are well-run, atmospheric sites used by join safari groups every night of the year.
